Searching for brick corner pop repair near me in Hurst, TX usually starts with one of two sights: a chunk of concrete missing at the base corner of the house, or brick at a Hurst corner that has cracked, shifted, or pushed outward. A corner pop is not random damage. It is what happens when brick veneer expands — with heat and with moisture, brick slowly grows — and the corner has nowhere for that movement to go. The corner is where two expanding walls meet, so it is where the pressure shows first.
Brick veneer is meant to move a little. Good walls give it room: vertical expansion joints at planned intervals, soft joints under shelf angles, and mortar that stays softer than the brick so the joints absorb small movement instead of the units cracking. When that room was never built in, or the joints have been filled hard with the wrong material, expansion pressure concentrates at the corners — the stiffest, most locked-up point on the wall.
The classic Texas corner pop is at ground level. The brick sits on the foundation ledge, expands along both walls, and pushes at the corner until a triangular chunk of the concrete corner spalls off. You will see a clean break at the very corner of the slab, sometimes with the brick above it still looking straight. The brick did not fall — it pushed, and the concrete corner was the weakest point.
The same pressure can show higher up: vertical or stepped cracks running near a corner, corner brick pushed slightly out of plane, or joints at the corner packed and crumbling while the rest of the wall looks sound. Rusting wall ties or steel near the corner can add their own push — rust takes up more room than the steel it came from — which is why a corner inspection checks the ties covered in our guide to wall tie failure.

Missing or too-few expansion joints. Long brick runs with no vertical soft joint have to put their growth somewhere — the full picture is in our explainer on expansion joint failure in brick veneer.
Joints filled hard. Expansion joints that were later packed with hard mortar or rigid filler stop being joints at all, and the pressure returns to the corner.
Mortar harder than the brick. When repair mortar is stronger than the units around it, movement cracks the brick instead of flexing at the joint — the rule in mortar matching 101.
Water and rust near the corner. Failed joints let water in; rusting ties and angles swell and add a second, slower push at the same corner.
Relieve the pressure first. Where the wall needs one, a proper vertical expansion joint is cut in and finished with backer rod and a flexible sealant joint — soft material that can compress — so the veneer has room to move before anything is rebuilt.
Rebuild the displaced corner. Cracked or pushed-out corner brick come out, damaged units are replaced with matched brick, sound ties are checked and failed ties replaced, and the corner is relaid plumb and in plane with both walls.
Repair the popped concrete corner. A spalled slab corner is cleaned back to sound concrete and rebuilt as a bonded patch formed to the original corner line, so the brick ledge bears evenly again.
Repoint with the right mortar. Joints are ground out, cleaned, dampened, and repointed with mortar matched for color and texture and kept softer than the brick, so the repair flexes at the joints instead of cracking units.
A small, old base-corner spall with no cracking above it and no movement since is often a one-time event: repair the corner, confirm the wall has room to move, and monitor it. Cracks that are still opening, corner brick visibly out of plane, or a pop paired with sticking doors and cracks elsewhere in the house deserve a fuller look, because the corner may be reporting foundation movement as well as veneer expansion. The honest test is whether the corner is still moving — measure and photograph crack widths at the corner each season, from the same spot, before deciding.
If you are in Hurst and your corner has popped, cracked, or pushed out, start with the cause, not the patch. Filling the crack without giving the wall room to move just reloads the same corner. Our Hurst brick repair page covers the corner, crack, and veneer work we do across the city.
