Brick and stone retaining wall repair across Dallas–Fort Worth by Champion Brick Repair — leaning, bowing and cracked walls put back plumb on a sound footing with the drainage fixed behind them. Call (817) 523-1540 for a free estimate.
A retaining wall does not hold back dirt so much as it holds back water. Dallas–Fort Worth sits on expansive clay: it swells when it is wet and shrinks when it dries, and after a hard rain the saturated soil behind a wall pushes with far more force than the wall was ever asked to carry dry. Walls built without drainage gravel and weep paths trap that water, and the pressure has to go somewhere — the wall bows, leans, cracks in steps through the mortar joints, or sheds its cap stones. Shallow footings poured on the same moving clay make it worse, and tree roots finish what the water started.
The early signs are easy to walk past: a slight lean at one end of the wall, mortar joints opening on the face, caps loosening, soil washing out through the joints after storms. Every one of those is the wall asking for a mason while the fix is still small. Text us photos at (817) 523-1540 and we will tell you straight whether it is a repair or a rebuild — and if the movement is really the slope or the home's foundation moving, we will say that too (our sister company Metro Foundation Repair handles those, and we work as one team).
If a wall is still plumb and its footing is sound, failed mortar can be ground out and repointed with mortar matched to the original — the process on our mortar color matching page — and loose caps reset. That is a repair, and it lasts. But repointing a wall that is already leaning only dresses up a failure: the lean has to come out. Leaning or bowing sections come down, the footing is corrected, and the wall goes back up with drainage stone and a water path behind it, using the original brick or stone wherever it is sound and matched units where it is not, so the rebuilt section blends into what stayed standing.
Either way, the water question gets answered as part of the job — a retaining wall repaired without fixing the drainage behind it is a wall scheduled to fail again on the same schedule. Every repair and rebuild is backed for life.
Half the retaining walls we touch are not in a backyard at all — they are the brick perimeter fences, entry monuments, and landscape retaining walls of the metroplex's HOA communities, and they fail the same way, in public, all at once. We serve HOA communities across Dallas including Bent Tree, Prestonwood, Northwood Hills and Royal Highlands, and across Fort Worth including Walsh, Ventana, Marine Creek Ranch and Summer Creek Ranch — entry walls, monument signs, and perimeter brickwork included. Homeowners in those same neighborhoods get the yard version of the same wall: terraced landscape walls, planter walls, and lot-line retaining walls rebuilt to the same standard. See our brick repair cost page for what drives pricing, or start from your city page: Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Plano.
Dallas has its own dedicated page: retaining wall repair in Dallas — the root causes (hydrostatic pressure, failed drainage, footing rotation), the honest repair-or-rebuild test, and how our crews correct the drainage before they rebuild the wall. The citywide brick picture is on our brick repair in Dallas page, and the full masonry category lives on our masonry contractor hub.
