Why Simple Mortar Patches Fail
Before we get into the "how," you need to understand the "why." When a brick wall cracks, it’s usually because of foundation movement or thermal expansion. The crack is a sign that the masonry is under stress.
No Structural Bond: Mortar is essentially "rock glue." It’s meant to sit between bricks, not to act as a structural bridge.
Expansion and Contraction: Bricks expand when they get hot. If a crack is just filled with mortar, there’s no room for the wall to "breathe," leading to new cracks right next to the old ones.
The Dallas Factor: Our soil is notorious for shifting. A patch doesn't address the fact that the wall has become two separate pieces. You need to turn it back into one solid unit.

Tip: Never use carbon steel rods for masonry repair. Carbon steel will rust over time, and as it rusts, it expands. This expansion (known as "oxide jacking") will actually cause more damage to your bricks than the original crack did. Always insist on stainless steel.

The Champion Brick Repair System: Step-by-Step
We take a surgical approach to brick repair. We don't just show up with a bucket of mud; we follow a precise technical protocol to ensure the repair is structural and invisible.
1. Preparing the Joints
First, we identify the cracks that require stitching. Usually, we place a rod every 3 to 4 courses of brick to distribute the load evenly. We use specialized dust-extraction grinders to cut a slot into the horizontal mortar joints. We go about 1.5 inches deep and 24 inches wide, centered on the crack.
2. Cleaning and Priming
A rod won't bond to a dusty joint. We thoroughly clean the slot to remove all debris and old mortar. This ensures the bonding agent has a clean surface to grab onto.
3. Inserting the Champion Stitching Rods™
We apply a layer of high-strength, non-shrink structural grout into the back of the slot. Then, we "stitch" the wall by pressing the 8mm stainless steel rod into the grout. Because the rod is 24 inches long, it bridges the crack with plenty of "anchor" on either side.
4. The Bonding Phase
Another layer of structural grout is applied over the rod, completely encapsulating it. This creates a reinforced "beam" inside your wall. The wall is now significantly stronger than it was the day it was built.
5. The Stealth Finish
